Bielefelder

Bielefelder

The Bielefelder is a rare and impressive German breed known for its size, calm temperament, and exceptional utility. Often called a “super chicken,” the Bielefelder offers outstanding egg production, remarkable hardiness, and an easygoing nature that makes it ideal for families and backyard flocks.

Bielefelders are autosexing, meaning males and females can be identified at hatch based on color patterns—an incredible advantage for customers wanting pullets. Hens are excellent layers, producing 200–230 large brown eggs per year, even through the colder months. Their meat quality is also highly regarded, making them a true dual-purpose breed.

This breed is exceptionally gentle, friendly, and easy to handle. Bielefelders are large, sturdy birds with beautiful cuckoo-patterned plumage and a golden tint, giving them a striking, unique appearance in any flock. They are hardy in both heat and cold and adapt well to coops, runs, or free-range environments.

  • PICKUP POLICY

Chick orders at our Stansbury location are available for pickup on Saturdays. While we make every effort to fulfill your preferred pickup date, please note that we cannot guarantee your order will be ready on that specific day. Once your pickup date is confirmed, you will receive an email confirmation.

The Friday before your scheduled pickup, we will send a second confirmation email that includes your final order details, verification that your chicks hatched as expected, and any additional pickup instructions.

All orders must be picked up on the Saturday they are scheduled. Orders not picked up on their scheduled date are considered abandoned and will not be rescheduled or refunded.

If your order includes a shortage (a breed that did not hatch as expected), the remaining chicks on your order must still be picked up as scheduled. For any chicks unavailable due to a hatch shortage, you may choose one of the following options at pickup:

    • Replace the shortage with chicks currently in stock, or

    • Move the unavailable chicks to a future pickup date.

There is no guarantee of mortality or morbidity once the poultry leaves our store. Please carefully check your chicks before you leave.
